A CHARITY cricket in memory of a stalwart of the sport is being held in Malvern on Sunday.
The match will raise money for the British Heart Foundation in the name of Brian Howorth, of Kempsey, who died of a heart attack while playing the sport he loved in June last year.
Son Andy Howorth is hoping the event will match the success of last year's inaugural event, which raised £300 for the charity.
He said: "Brian was such a kind person and lived his life to the full helping others, especially when it came to cricket Last year’s event was a real success and many more players are planning to come out of retirement just to play in this match this year. It is hoped that this event will continue to grow for many years raising funds for the British Heart Foundation.”
The match pits a Brian Howorth memorial XI against the Fossils, and starts at 1pm at Malvern Cricket Club, Regency Road, Malvern Link.
