THE Worcester News along with others across the country is holding an interactive #TrustedNewsDay on Friday as part of our Fighting Fake News campaign.

And we are inviting our readers to be part of it.

The day will give you a chance to quiz our news team about the decisions we make on stories both in the newspaper and website.

The same team produces the Malvern Gazette and Ledbury Reporter, Evesham and Cotswold Journal and Berrow's Worcester Journal, so we will be dealing with questions from readers of those papers too.

We will also be asking for your views about how you want us to report the general election. Should we stick to purely local issues? Or do you want us to examine national policies too? And how do we get the balance right?

We will also try to give you an insight into how our journalists go about producing honest, trusted journalism; show some of the difficulties they face, and the rewards too.

Readers can ask our journalists questions directly through their Twitter accounts (they are listed here: https://twitter.com/johnwilsonWN/lists/worcester-reporters/members).

Deputy editor John Wilson will be anchoring the debate and also answering your questions @johnwilsonWN.

Please include #TrustedNewsDay in your tweets.

We will run the same question-and-answer session on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/theworcesternews), and publish a live report on our website www.worcesternews.co.uk).

All will take place between 11am and 2pm on Friday (May 12).

Our Fighting Fake News campaign launched last week and will continue into Local Newspaper Week (May 15-21).

Local newspapers around the country are also running the campaign, which has prompted Prime Minister Theresa May to speak about the dangers of fake news on social media and the importance of a free press.
