AN officer suffered a knife wound and a police dog received an ear injury while responding to reports of shop vandalism.
The police are investigating after the incident in Bromyard in the early hours of Wednesday (June 6) morning.
A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage after vandalism was caused to High Street shops at around 3am.
The police officer was taken to hospital where he was treated and discharged.
The dog was also treated by a vet and they are both now at home recovering.
Superintendent Sue Thomas said: “We want to make it clear that this was an isolated incident in which a police officer and a police dog were both injured while carrying out their duties.
“They've both received treatment and thankfully are in recovery.
“Police remain at the scene and we will be increasing patrols in the area to reassure the public.”
