DESPITE the awful cold weather we have been experiencing, our meetings have been well supported by our stalwart members.

Hoping for sunnier times, we have booked a visit to Buckingham Palace on August 21 to see the Coronation Robes and the state rooms.

At least 22 members are going on a weekend away to York in November.

Unfortunately our walks have been a bit hit and miss, depending on the weather but again a few stalwart members have ventured out regularly even though it has meant a little more road walking than we usually do.

Our skittles team have won two of the three matches they have played so far in the county tournament and our embroidery group are busy sewing some beautiful pieces. Our art group resumed classes on April 11, when, under the guidance of Angela Gash and Bernice Simms, some lovely works of art will be produced.

We have had two very good speakers recently. Rob Hemming gave a very interesting talk on the old picture palaces which included our own Regal cinema, both as it was and as it is now. Rob gave a very interesting talk and, like most of us, is extremely proud of our unique cinema.

Sue Johnson, local author from Pershore, gave us a good insight into the world of writing novels, dismissing the myth some of us held about sitting at a computer and waiting for inspiration.

A very talented and interesting lady.

We have been pleased to welcome several new members and visitors to our meetings are always welcome. We hold them on the second Wednesday of every month beginning at 7.15pm so do come along and see what you think of us.
