RBL Women's Section, Pershore Branch

THE branch has been very active since our last report and five ladies attended National Conference at Llandudno, including our standard bearer Glenda McKeown.

Several members attended the RBL service for the Falklands at Worcester Cathedral in May. The branch continues to send shoeboxes with toiletries, books and other suitable items to troops in Afghanistan. The proposed trip to Lydney Park Gardens had to be cancelled due to bad weather and a further outing to Stratford with a river trip is planned for July 12.

Members attended the RBL lunch at the Railway in Defford where awards were made. Speakers at meetings have included the “Eyes Right” team who came along and offered advice on eye care, Rosemary David, division secretary for SSAFA, and at the June meeting Don Grant gave a talk on his life during WWII where he was living in Shanghai and Japan.

Our meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month from 7.30pm at Wulstan Hall, Pershore. Speaker for our next meeting is Dave Smith from Asda.
