Exaggerates the ragwort risk…

Simon Hart exaggerates the Ragwort risk. This plant is undoubtedly poisonous but research shows that once other common animal ailments with similar symptoms are excluded that animal poisonings are rare as animals instinctively avoid it.

His members are reacting to a wave of hysterical exaggeration that appears every summer. Ragwort seeds rarely travel more than a few metres from the parent plant so plants on road verges pose little threat. It is also a myth landowners and councils are under an automatic legal obligation to control it.
