VOLUNTEERS are being sought to join the happy band of helpers at Pershore's Acorns Children's Hospice charity shop.

The High Street shop which helps raise money for the charity is on the lookout for local people to take on a range of vital roles, from operating tills to sorting stock and preparing window displays.

Shop manager, Lyn Smith, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and learn new skills and we’ve got a wide range of roles to suit you, whatever your strengths or interests.

“We simply wouldn’t be able to continue without the support and commitment of our brilliant volunteers and we’re excited to bring on more people to join our team.”

The network of Acorns shops across the West Midlands raises around £1.5million per year, which helps to meet the running costs of the hospices, which stand at over £9 million per year.

Kevin Ives, head of retail for Acorns Children's Hospice, said: “Volunteers are absolutely vital in helping to keep our shops running and make them inviting places to shop and I would encourage anyone interested in applying for a position in Pershore to get in touch.

“By joining our team you be helping to keep our retail network competitive, which in turn helps to generate invaluable funds towards the care and support of children and families.”

Acorns offers a range of specialist services to children and their families across the Midlands. In the last year Acorns has supported over 800 children and more than 1,030 families, including those who are bereaved.
