LENT lunches are being enjoyed by staff at a baptist church in aid of a worldwide charity.
Every Friday, staff at Pershore Baptist Church get together as part of the Churches Together Lenten Appeal.
The appeal is on behalf of Wheels for the World, a charity that send second hand wheelchairs to disabled people in Third World countries.
Colin Reeves, one of the organisers said: "It costs just over £40 per chair for repairs and transport,so with the 40 days of Lent, we are hopeful of sponsoring very many chairs."
Soup and a roll are offered in return for a donation, every Friday until April 7 from noon until 1.30pm at the baptist church on Broad Street in Pershore.
The project recycles old wheelchairs, saving them from landfill, gives prisoners in Parkhurst Gaol refurbishment work and it changes the lives of disabled poor people in developing countries.
