AN UNCLE will take raise money in memory of a brave child.

Jake Smith passed away aged four following a battle with epilepsy, after suffering his first 45 minute seizure after four months of his life and many more in the coming years.

He was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome, a rare genetic epileptic condition which affects the brain aged one, before passing away to one of the seizures in December 2016.

His uncle Michael Smith, will shave his head in The Valley, Evesham at noon on Sunday with the rest of the family coming down from York where Jake lived.

His mother, Rebecca Smith said: "Throughout his first year of life he had many hospital stays and tests but he was an inspiration to us all and always giggling.

"The week leading up to losing Jake we had such a fun time. Trampolining, going out for tea, Jake's cousin Frankie's first birthday and we went to visit Father Christmas at the Rock Church in York. Then tea at Oscar's, followed by a lovely evening at home watching him play, climb and giggle lots.

"That night he went to bed so happy and he sadly did not wake up that morning due to a seizure which was to be too much for him."

Mr Smith will shave his head for Drayet Syndrome UK, with collection buckets on the day.

He is being supported by staff at Allens Caravans Estates as one of their residents at Wootton Park in Henley in Arden, and a lifelong friend of Bob Jones who works for the company.

Significant money has already been promised following the shave by Travis Perkins, Windows R Us.
