VALE youngster will be taking on the challenge of his life when he treks up the side of one of England’s largest mountains.
Sam Tyrrell, aged 12, from Bretforton, will be taking on the might of Helvellyn in the Lake District with his dad, Andy, as he attempts to raise money for Sport Relief through his school, Blackminster Middle.
More than 3,100ft await the intrepid duo as they aim to rise head and shoulders above the rest tomorrow (19), and have set a target of £100.
Andy said: “Sam came home from school last week with a sponsorship form for Sport Relief.
“We decided we wanted to do something challenging and worthwhile. Sam has never done a ridge walk before and Striding Edge is a renowned scramble. It will be quite daunting.
“This trip will take Sam just slightly out of his comfort zone, but it will build character and give him bags of confidence. He will have to overcome his fears and develop the mental ability needed to complete the challenge.”
