SUN-seekers can rejoice as Worcestershire gets set to hot up again.

Last week brought warmth and sunshine to the county, with temperatures touching 21C, although the chill returned just in time for the weekend.

However, tomorrow sees the start of more good weather, which is set to last until at least Thursday.

Ian Michaelwaite, of Pershore-based Netweather.tv, said the next two days could see temperatures reaching above 20Cs.

"The weather is set to get warmer again after the weekend dip. Temperatures will be climbing up for the next couple of days," he said.

"On Tuesday it could reach the 20Cs, and on Wednesday it could quite comfortably go beyond that. But this will only be for a brief time. On Thursday it will start to sink back down and Friday will be back to normal.

"Over the next few days people should be aware of the possibility of storms. There's a weather front marching down the country which is bringing the good weather but also means the chance of storms and sharp showers is high on Wednesday afternoon. Also, it is pollen season, which people with allergies should be aware of too."

Vets are also issuing a timely reminder to make sure pets are as prepared for the hot weather as people.

John Blackwell, British Veterinary Association president, said: "Most people know dogs should never be left in cars by themselves, even when the day is warm as opposed to hot, but it can be tempting to ignore advice if you think you won’t be gone for long.

“Leaving the car windows open and a bowl of water is not enough. As a dog can only cool down through its tongue and paw pads, it cannot react quickly enough to cope with the rapidly rising heat inside a car.

“Dogs are also vulnerable to heatstroke while out with their owners. A dog won’t stop enjoying itself because it is hot, so it’s up to the owner to stop the animal before it suffers.

“Older dogs and those with respiratory problems are particularly susceptible but it’s sensible to keep a close eye on any dog on warmer days.”
