POLICE discovered a man had been driving while over the drink-drive limit when they stopped him after suspecting he wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

Samuel Graham, of Laugherne Road, St John's, Worcester, pleaded guilty to driving while over the legal alcohol limit at Worcester Magistrates Court yesterday.

The court heard that Graham, aged 60, was spotted by police driving along Comer Road on March 29, and police pulled him over because they couldn't see whether he was wearing a seatbelt or not.

Barry Newton, defending, said: "It was a Sunday afternoon and Mr Graham had been doing a favour for a friend. After that he went to a pub and had two pints of beer and a glass of wine before driving. When talking to him police realised he had been drinking. Mr Graham was fully co-operative with police."

Mark Soper, prosecuting, said a reading showed Graham had 79mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

District Judge Neil Thomas disqualified Graham from driving for 20 months and ordered him to pay a fine of £200, court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20.
