STALLHOLDERS are being urged to take part in this year’s Dudley Council Playweek as organisers aim to make it bigger and better than before.

Last year’s playweek was the most successful yet with more than 3,000 children attending over five days of activities in the borough’s parks.

Children took part in a variety of activities including group games, sports, camp fires, den building, climbing wall, crafts, road awareness, sumo wrestling, assault courses, tug of war and glass painting.

This year’s event starts at Huntingtree Park, Halesowen, on Monday August 3 and Silver Jubilee, in Coseley, on Tuesday August 4.

Wednesday August 5’s event will be at Steven’s Park, in Wollescote while Dudley's Priory Park will host on Thursday August 6.

The week will conclude on Friday August 7 at The Dell, in Brockmoor. Each event starts at noon and finishes at 4pm.

Councillor Ian Cooper, cabinet member for children’s services, said: “Playweek is a hugely popular event which has grown year on year since 2009.

“Children of all ages, together with their families, go along for a fun-packed afternoon at the participating parks.”

The council are asking anyone interested in holding a stall throughout the week, costing £30 per day or £120 for the whole five days, to contact Keith Rogers on 01384 813755 or email play@sycamoreadventure.co.uk

Playweek is part of the National Play Day celebrations when thousands of children visit their local park to take part in free play activities and promote the importance of children’s play.
