A DROITWICH animal rescue shelter is appealing for pet lovers to adopt some very special cats.

Fred is described as an extremely chatty cat who had to have his ears amputated to prevent the spreading and re-occurrence of skin cancer.

He has been at Danemere Animal Rescue in Tibberton, near Droitwich, since wandering into the shelter as a stray and is believed to be over six years old.

Dave Lannie, from the shelter, said: "Fred enjoys nothing more than sleeping by a radiator having a good cat nap. He would also make a great lap cat.

"Sadly, Fred has always had problems with his ears. He has been undergoing treatment for a recurrent type of skin cancer causing scabs and wounds on the tips of his ears, much of which would not heal.

"The decision was made to amputate Fred’s ears completely and we're pleased to say that he is looking good and recovering brilliantly.

"He has been with us now for far too long and we are desperate to find Fred a new home.

"Although he is good with people, he will need to be an only cat with no dogs, as he has been very territorial here and needs to be 'top-dog' in his new home.

"He is brilliant with people, extremely chatty and will happily follow you around, meowing for extra attention as he adores fuss.

"Fred has heaps of personality and is a firm favourite among the staff and volunteers at Danemere."

If you think you could give this chatty chap a chance, please contact Danemere on 01905 345655 or visit him in the cattery.

Two other beautiful cats who need a new home are May and Splodge, who have been in Danemere's care for almost a year.

Their previous owner, who was a great friend of the shelter, died very suddenly and the shelter is hoping someone will adopt both girls.

Mr Lannie said: "May and Splodge are very good friends and we would love them to be rehomed together as they have never been without each other.

"They are both quiet cats who seem to just want an easy, peaceful life with the odd gentle fuss here and there.

"At 10 and 14 years old, these lovely girls would make great companions for someone."

Splodge and May are both good with other cats and seem to enjoy the company another cat brings.

"We often find them happily curled up together!" said Mr Lannie.

May and Splodge would benefit from a quiet house, preferably with no young children or dogs.

If you think you could provide a suitable home for this pair to relax in comfort in their older years, please give Danemere a call on the number above.
