AN elderly woman has been knocked over in a hit and run in Evesham's Cowl Street.

The woman, who is believed to be in her 80s, was hit by a reversing van in the street on Tuesday, September 16.

But the driver of the white van failed to stop and was seen speeding away from the scene shortly after 12.30pm.

Fortunately the victim appeared to be unhurt as she got up and hurried away to catch her bus.

West Mercia Police are now calling for the driver to come forward or any witnesses with more detail about the vehicle that may enable them to track it down.

The crash was reported by a number of witnesses, although none were able to provide the registration details of the van.

A spokesperson for the police said: "The van was reversing and knocked her over and then sped off. She basically got up and said she needed to get her bus.

"She was a bit shaken. We have no details of the van apart from that we know it was white.

"It went up Swan Lane.

"The accident wasn't at speed."

The driver, or anyone with information, is asked to call 101 and quote reference number 256s - 16-06-14.
