JOE Tryner bagged a late well-deserved try for Evesham under 15s in a 40-5 Plate first-round home defeat to Old Halesonians.
Player-of-the-match Tryner beat five of the opposition to score in the second period during a spirited display.
The scoreline flattered Old Hales after a close-fought match with Evesham’s Tom Jordan, Luke Williams, Ryan Spear and Harry Howells tackling hard and effectively.
Evesham under 13s suffered one of those bad days when they fell 82-0 at Chipping Norton.
Their play and commitment were far below the normal standards despite normally contesting close matches with the Oxfordshire hosts.
Evesham under 14s drew 26-26 with Chipping Norton and Kieran Raymer was player-of-the-match.
