DAVID White scored his second successive century as Pershore racked up the runs again in Worcestershire League Division One.

However, the title hopefuls had to be content with a home winning draw against Droitwich Spa who clinged on with 139-7 in reply to 289-2 in a rain-affected clash.

Spa, joint leaders before the start of play, won the toss and invited Pershore to bat under overcast conditions.

Chris Ayliffe (42) returned to open with White, who scored 107 at Bromyard the previous week, as the pair posted a stand of 104.

White (122 not out) dominated the bowlers and added 137 runs from the last 15 overs with skipper Chris Ridings who scored 67no from just 48 balls.

With Spa’s innings reduced to 32 overs because of two breaks in play, a draw was their obvious target but they lost wickets regularly to a varied attack and fell behind the required run-rate.

Mike Rogers scored 16 from the last over to give the visitors the losing draw points.

  • Promoted Harvington suffered their first Division Two defeat of the season, falling to Stourport by 21 runs.

The Vale side elected to field first on a showery day and contained Stourport to 196-5 with New Zealander Jayden Lennox’s 17 overs of left-arm spin only going for 34 runs.

After the early loss of Lee Ross, Lennox (30) and Jaimen Rudd (34) carried Harvington to 91-1 before things started to go wrong for their side.

The hosts slumped to 96-5 due to rash shots and poor decision-making and, despite the efforts of the lower order, slumped to 175 all out.

Harvington seconds recorded their first league victory of the season at Himbleton in Division Three.

They bowled their hosts for 130 with spinners Sam Bannister and Dave Moulson taking three wickets each.

Skipper Tom Tew’s unbeaten 58 saw his side to a seven-wicket victory.

The Sunday side amassed 314-4 at Exhall and Wixford with Lennox (101 retired) hitting his first century for the club, supported by Dan Colburn’s 86.

Under 13s medium-pace bowler Josh Hoyes recorded 2-27 from eight overs on his senior debut in the hosts’ 198 all out.

Harvington visit Belbroughton in the National Village Knock-out Cup on Sunday.
