Falcons take plaudits on wet weekend for junior football

SOME Ambassador Evesham League games survived the wet weather with Pershore Town Falcons under 18s creating a shock.

They secured their first home league win of the season by defeating second-placed Evesham United Colts 2-1.

Ilmington United under 16s could be pleased with their performance despite going down 1-0 at high-flying Crowle Searchers.

In Under 15s Pool 'B', the mid-table battle between Pershore Town and Bidford Juniors was edged 4-3 by the Worcestershire outfit.

The Under 12s Pool 'A' form book was turned upside down as Ilmington United surprised second-placed Tewkesbury Town Colts with a morale-boosting 4-3 victory.

It allowed leaders Badsey Rangers to extend their gap at the top to seven points as they won 8-0 at Littleton Juniors.

On-song Winchcombe Town Youth followed up last week's cup success by securing their first away Under 11s Pool 'A' win of the season with a 3-2 triumph at Ilmington United.

In the top-of-the-table clash, leaders Welford Junior Pumas won 2-1 at home to second-placed Drakes Broughton Rangers.

The 'B' Pool match of the day was between table-toppers Bidford Juniors and Sheppey Swifts just below them but it remained goalless at the final whistle.

Oscar Gristenthwaite bagged six goals as Alcester Town Juniors won 11-2 at Inkberrow Eagles and now has 22 goals for the season.

Droitwich Scorpions continue to lead Pool 'C' after a 3-1 triumph at Tewkesbury Town Panthers, while Shipston Excelsior stayed in touch with a 10-1 success over Bretforton Juniors with Harry Langford, Conor Murphy, Dylan Williams and Oscar Hair all on target.

Mid-table Littleton Juniors drew 1-1 at home to Welford Panthers.

It's a very even affair in the Under 10s Pool 'A' table as Eckington Juniors and Pershore Town drew 1-1 to remain joint top with 10 points each.

There was another 1-1 draw as Eckington Eagles and Shipston Excelsior shared the points.

Ilmington United stay top of Pool 'B' with a 3-1 win at Stratford Town Colts Blues.

At the other end of the table, Bidford Rockets earned a well-deserved point as they held Crowle Juniors 3-3.

Welford Juniors remain unbeaten in Pool 'C' after a 4-3 win at Littleton Juniors to stay top.

Moreton Rangers recorded their first away league win of the season 4-1 at Tewkesbury Town Pumas.
