Sun Inn clinch promotion in Evesham League

SUN Inn clinched promotion from Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League Division Four with an emphatic 6-2 win at promotion rivals Stratford United.

The Winchcombe team scored through Ed Major (2), Parry (2), Stratford and Comfort, while Dixon replied with a brace.

Pebworth defeated neighbours Fortis 2-0 with goals from Skinner and Mallory.

Harvington won 2-1 at Vale Wanderers through Davies and Philpotts, while Tewkesbury Town Reserves and Stour Excelsior Reserves shared six goals.

Kavanagh scored twice for Town and Shrimpton did likewise for Stour.

In Division Three, Inkberrow closed their season with a six-goal win over Ecosamba thanks to Sheen, Firkin, Brant, Grant, Johnson and Griffiths.

Promotion-chasing WMK dropped valuable Division Two points as they were held 3-3 at Alderton.

Frangleton (2) and Ellis scored for the hosts with Leary (2) and Wiggins hitting back.

Pinvin United may have to avoid defeat in their final match to clinch the Division One title following a 2-2 draw against Eckington.

Fletcher and Lamb scored for Pinvin with Charman and Carter netting for Eckington.

A Matt Staley double helped Bear to a 3-1 success at Honeybourne Gate Inn, while Fladbury Athletic were unable to raise a team against Bretforton Old Boys.

Alcester Town reached the Express-Funding Mick Godwin Cup final with a 3-0 semi-final win over Tesco United thanks to Fletcher, Dance and Poulson.

They will face Tewkesbury Town, who won 4-1 at Stour Excelsior.

Bredon reached the Evesham Hospital Minor Cup last four with a 3-2 win over Bromsgrove League side Washford Lions.
