PERSHORE boosted their Warwick Printing West Midlands Division One top-three hopes with a 4-1 win over basement boys Yardley.

Ed Deacon opened the scoring within 10 minutes and Russ McGettigan soon slotted home a second.

Mike Doust and Andy Gardner defended well, while skipper Russ Scudamore was denied by fine keeping at the other end.

Scudamore finally found the net early in the second-half and, despite a Yardley consolation, Graham Handley wrapped up the scoring for the Vale side.

Pershore host Newtown on Sunday in a rearranged game.

Richard Fear scored as Evesham crashed 6-1 at home to high-flying Oswestry. They visit Whitchurch on Saturday.

Pershore seconds lost 1-0 at West Brom in West Midlands Division Two, despite an encouraging display.

Ali Sanderson and Adam Ball were denied by fine saves before the hosts went ahead against the run of play.

Pershore pushed forward in the second-half but went down to 10 men when Tom Handley went off injured.

The thirds thrashed Kidderminster 5-1, with Gavin Pugh, Andy Griffin, Luke Dalley, Alex Brown and Jason Brown scoring.

Pershore women went down 1-0 at home to a late Barford Tigers goal in Worcestershire League Division One.

The town improved on their 5-0 defeat to Tigers earlier in the season and bossed the first-half without scoring.

Emily Capaldi was player-of-the-match and Amanda Barnes made a confident debut. Pershore visit Harborne fourths on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Bretforton could not build on their second West Clubs Women’s League Premier Division ‘2A’ win of the season.

After beating City of Bath 5-1, bottom-of-the-table Bret crashed 5-0 at high-flying Cheltenham seconds and now host second-placed Swindon on Saturday.
