NORTH Cotswold Tri and Run's Marianne Badger tackled her first ironman competition.

Joined by her father Roger Day, Badger did the tough Ironman UK Triathlon at Bolton.

Day, who has already qualified for the world championships later this year, won his veteran 70 age category in 14 hours 25 minutes.

He did 1.40 for the 2.4-mile swim, 6.11 for the 112-mile bike ride and 6.09 for the marathon run.

Badger was 11th in her 30 age category and 44th woman overall in 11.34 with 1.07 for the swim, 5.20 for the bike and 4.56 for the run.

At the Wales Long Course weekend in Tenby, Tom Williams took on the full Ironman distance disciplines over 48 hours.

He did the 2.4-mile sea swim in 1.17, the 112-mile bike ride in 6.44 and the marathon in 3.52 for 11.54.    Steve Edwards ran the marathon in 3.28.27 for second in his veteran 55 age category.

Mike Hobbs ran his first park run at Witney and clocked 19.01 for second out of 192 with a new course record for the 45 age category.
