PAKISTAN international bowler Usama Mir will return to the Worcestershire squad this weekend after agreeing to a one-match deal for the County Championship clash with Sussex that starts on Sunday.

Mir was brilliant for the Rapids during his three-game stint at the start of the competition, playing a big part in helping the team win their opening three matches. He scored 21 not-out and took 3-21 in the 15-run victory over Northamptonshire Steelbacks, before his 32 not-out and 2-33 ensured Worcestershire beat Leicestershire Foxes.

The 27-year-old was initially signed as cover for Mitchell Santner, who was still playing in the IPL, but will now come back for the clash at Hove this weekend.

"It was my dream to play county cricket and I achieved that in the Blast. I enjoyed my time at Worcestershire and was happy to contribute with bat and ball," said Mir.

"It was a shame that the spell was so short, and to have the opportunity to come back and play a Championship game is exciting, and I look forward to a different sort of challenge to T20 cricket.

"I know Worcestershire are in a good position in the table, and, like with the Blast, I hope to play my part in achieving a victory."

Worcestershire Head Coach, Alan Richardson, added: "Usama fitted very well into our dressing room and showed his quality with bat and ball.

"We are delighted to welcome him back for the Sussex game and just think he will give us an additional option that can add variety to our attack."
