RECENT reports suggest Worcestershire seam-bowler and England Ashes debutant Josh Tongue could leave the county at the end of the season.

25-year-old Tongue has been with the club since the age of six but reports in the press in the last 24 hours say that a number of counties are interested in his signature.

That has been heightened in recent months after Tongue was handed his England debut vs Ireland in the pre-Ashes warm-up match, where he recorded a five-for in the second innings.

And now Tongue will make his Ashes debut on Wednesday after being selected to replace former Worcestershire all-rounder Moeen Ali in the 11-man line-up for the second test of the 2023 series.

Following the news of his call-up to Ben Stokes' second test side, The Mail Online reported on Tuesday that Lancashire and Nottinghamshire are two of those bidding for Tongue's services but another offer from an unknown county might also be on the table.

Tongue's Worcestershire contract reportedly ends in September and he is said to be wanting a fresh challenge as he continues to make waves in both county and international cricket.
