ONE of the stars of the Worcestershire Rapids' 2023 Vitality Blast campaign, Usama Mir, has been picked to represent the Manchester Originals in The Hundred.

Mir, who played throughout the T20 campaign, will play for the Originals in the competition that begins at the start of August.

The Pakistan international leg-spinner took 19 wickets for the Rapids during the tournament and also averaged 44 runs with the bat, showing he can be a useful all-rounder for Manchester.

Mir will join Worcestershire bowler Josh Tongue in the Originals squad for the tournament.

Mir also featured for one County Championship game for Worcestershire, and is thoroughly enjoying his time in England in the 2023 season.

On Twitter he said: "One of my goals for 2023 was to be selected in The Hundred and I’m so grateful and thankful to be picked. I am super excited to get started."

The Originals begin their 2023 tournament away at Welsh Fire at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff as part of a double-header with the Women's match, which follows it.

The other Worcestershire involvement in the competition is Adam Hose, who will play for the Super Northern Chargers.
