Gloucester All Blues 10, Bredon Star 21.

FOLLOWING their win against Cirencester seconds the previous week, Bredon Star travelled to Gloucester to face the All Blues.

Bredon’s fluid offload rugby took the All Blues by surprise, with two tries scored in the first 20 minutes.

Bredon’s first try came from a well-timed inside ball from winger Ashley Budding to make it easy for Tom Siggins to score.

Their second try was a complete team effort finished off by winger Sam Batty.

At 14-0 down, the All Blues showed a lot of grit, and kept hold of the ball for the rest of the half to keep themselves in contention.

The All Blues regrouped and were camped on the Bredon try-lines for the rest of the half.

But brave defence, particularly from back rowers Mike Hickey and Mike Hodgson kept the Blues score down to two unconverted tries.

The second-half was even with both sides playing positive attacking rugby, but neither side could find a score, though Bredon looked to be in control in open play with good yards being made by Alastair Jackson, Andy Bridges and James Howard.

Bredon’s possession and play eventually paid dividends with Howard making the only score of the second-half.

The win was a perfect preparation for Bredon’s home RFU National Vase cup match against Tenbury on Saturday at Bredon playing fields. All support welcomed.
