CONTINUITY is the key for new-look Evesham United as they look to kick-start their campaign, according to manager Paul West.

Ex-Aston Villa trainee goalkeeper David Bevan, centre-half Melvin Gourlay, defender Ryan Keen, Swiss striker Kevin Vogeli and Ivory Coast winger Casimir Pangne have all made their debuts in the past two games for United.

The Robins slumped to a 4-1 defeat at St Albans City followed by a 2-1 home loss to Leamington in their latest double of clashes in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division to see them slip to third-from-bottom.

Despite taking the lead in each of these matches, United hope for a positive result when they host Barwell on Saturday (ko 3pm).

In addition, fellow new signing Ben Mackey opened his Evesham account with the consolation strike against Leamington.

West concedes it will take time for his new charges to adjust to the “tough” league but hopes to field a settled side now after a busy few weeks of recruitment.

He said: “We want some continuity now.

“At the moment, we have players playing in areas they don’t usually. The quicker we can settle down the better.

“We’re trying to integrate the new players in. We’ve got a few new bodies in at the moment.

“It’s a tough league to blood new players into. It’s important that we don’t make wholesale changes now.

“We need to relish the challenge that’s ahead of us. We’ve got to roll our sleeves up.

“I will be doing my upmost to turn this around. We’re in an area of the league that we don’t want to be.”

Evesham United Supporters Club’s next meeting will be held tonight at St Ecgwins Social Club, Evesham High Street from 7.30pm. All are welcome to attend.

Evesham’s rearranged home league fixture against Arlesey Town has been brought forward to Tuesday, December 6 (7.45pm). Evesham’s league clash with Hemel Hempstead on Tuesday has been postponed due to the latter side’s Red Insure Cup second round tie at Hitchin Town the previous night.
