Badsey Ladies 0, Harborne Ladies II 4.

BADSEY Hockey Club's ladies suffered their second defeat of the campaign in Worcestershire League Division One and dropped to third as they were beaten by current leaders Harborne.

The well-drilled visitors put the Badsey women under the cosh from the start with their quick movement. In the first period, the home team found it difficult to cope with, taking time to settle into the game and allowing Harborne to find the net three times before half-time while struggling to get out of their own half. When they did attack Badsey looked dangerous themselves, but were kept out by the experienced visiting defenders.

In the second period, a determined Badsey defended as a unit. However, when they did get possession, Badsey could not create enough chances to trouble the Harborne defenders.

But the league leaders were only able to add one further goal to their first-half tally. Badsey goalkeeper Rachel Leeming made a series of superb saves throughout the game and was named player-of-the-match.

On Saturday, Badsey travel to take on Harborne’s third string when they will be looking for revenge against the Birmingham club.
