Littleton 3, FC Glades Sporting 0.
LITTLETON kept up the pressure at the top of Athium Midland Combination Division One with a workmanlike performance against a hard-working FC Glades Sporting. For the first half-hour the visitors more than held their own as they played well on a decent surface.
After that period, Littleton began to create chances and went close when a cross from Kevin Ingram was met by a powerful volley from Ciaran Gilbert, which struck the keeper. They almost made the breakthrough when a powerful header from Matt Mitchell went just over.
The opening goal came on 37 minutes when the referee awarded Littleton a penalty for handball which Ben Smith converted. The same player doubled the score three minutes later, hitting a volley from 15 yards from an Ingram cross.
Immediately after the interval Littleton when further ahead. Mitchell leapt up for a corner, scoring with a sweet half-volley.
This effectively finished off the game, as Littleton’s defence and midfield were a hard-working unit, and they restricted the visitors to four chances. However, when they did get through, goalkeeper Danny Edwards was on hand to clear up.
On Saturday, Littleton host West Midlands Police (ko 2pm) in their latest league clash.
