THERE were only four matches completed in the Girls’ ‘A’ Division of the Cotswold Floorball League.

CCS continued where they left off the previous week, keeping up pressure on opposition defences and opened with a 4-1 win over Mickleton.

Grace Knight and Ellie Peach soon made it 2-0, only for Mickleton to put in some sustained pressure of their own which led to Alexia Doughty slotting home from an acute angle. Sydney Scott and Peach added two late goals to cut short the revival.

Niki Darbyshire had a fine game as the stand-in goalkeeper for the senior school and, apart from that one blip, Emily Dickinson and Eleanor Turner were stalwarts in defence. Indeed, it was Dickinson’s long, accurate passes all night which led to several goals in this and the next game.

CCS then went on to defeat Willersey 5-0.

Hannah Pritchard’s cross was deflected into the net off an unlucky defender, giving Haylie Summerhill no chance in goal.

Peach added to her tally, then Olivia Williams sent home a low, long shot.

Pritchard added the fourth before Peach finished the scoring with a long run to the left and her effort went into the roof of the net.

Mickleton consolidated their claim to a top qualifying spot when they scored three without reply against Willersey. Amy Matthews, Alexia Doughty and Sadie Scott were the scorers.

They are now at the top of the qualifiers' table, but St James are three points behind and still have three matches in hand.

Everything will be resolved in a fortnights time. St Catharines played just one match, earning their first points courtesy of a Georgina Palmer hat-trick.

They will not get into the top play-off spots, but will still have one last chance to defend their title in the repechage round after Christmas.

Next week, Bredon Hill, Temple Guiting, Bledington and Dormer House will meet to complete the Girls’ ‘B’ Division.
