JOHANNES Venter took 6-13 to help keep Harvington’s Worcestershire League Division Three title challenge on track.

Chaddesley Corbett had no answer to the South African bowler as hosts Harvington ran out winners by eight wickets to trail leaders Cookley by just four points.

After winning the toss and electing to field, Harvington wasted little time getting their opposition on the back foot.

Venter’s 11-over spell was backed up by two wickets from leg-spinner Jamie Anderson as Chaddesley were dismissed for just 76. In reply, despite the early loss of Andrew Fisher and Fraser Goodlad, Jaimen Rudd (20) and James Towey (35) saw Harvington.

The home side scored 206-8 in 50 overs, with three wickets for George Whiston who also top-scored with 31 as Harvington were out for 95.

􀁥 Harvington’s Sunday side defeated Alcester and Ragley by 92 runs.

Batting first, Harvington compiled 197-7 in 40 overs, Chris Ayliffe top-scoring with 31. In reply, Alcester were dismissed for 105.

􀁥 Captain Mike Powell scored a century as Badsey secured a narrow four-run win over Welford-on-Avon to remain top of Cotswold Hills League Division Four.

Losing the toss, Badsey were inserted and reached 28-1 when David Wheatley was dismissed.

Elliot Thompson (13) joined skipper Powell in a secondwicket stand of 84 from 20 overs before the former was bowled by Victor Khumalo.

Powell continued with Sam Thomson to add a further 43 runs from the next six overs before he was bowled by Sandip for 101 to leave Badsey on 155-3.

The hosts eventually finished on 196-7.

Welford started poorly and lost their first four wickets for 16 runs with Thomson picking up 3-11.

Sameer (82) and Lamb (47) put on 85 in 17 overs but, following further wickets, Wakelin was run out by Powell to give Badsey victory with two balls to spare.
