SWIMMERS Tazmin Pugh and Simon Sweatman helped Herefordahire and Worcestershire to victory at the three-way Inter County match against Staffordshire and Gloucestershire.

Pugh, 12, and 10-year-old Sweatman both recorded victories at the Redditch event as their team finished on 348 points, 54 ahead of runnersup Staffordshire.

Pugh, representing the county for the third year running, won the 12 year 100- metre backstroke in a new personal best time of one minute 7.46 seconds and clocked a pb of 1.07.72 in winning the 100m butterfly.

She will be swimming both these events, together with the 100m freestyle and 200m backstroke in the National Age Group Championships in Sheffield next month.

Sweatman, making his debut in the match, was victorious in the boys’ 50m butterfly in 34.59 and had another comfortable win in the 50m freestyle in 31.86.
