BREDON’S batsmen shone as they scored 136-all-out in a 56-run win over Stanway Boxmen in the Worcestershire Indoor Cricket League Evesham Division opener.
The villagers relied on 71 from Martin Hill, who, after a swift partnership with Tim Fenney (18), watched the rest come and go.
Hill was left to fly solo for the last third of the innings and dominated the bowling.
Simon Riches (2-17) ruined Boxmen’s hopes with two wickets in the first over, leaving them well behind the run-rate in a reply of 80-2.
Pete Green and Jason Haines both got their allotted 25 before retiring.
Feckenham (79 all out) beat Harvington (75 all out) by four runs with fine fielding and bowling from both sides.
Harvington chased a small total but failed with their running and calling.
Last man George Barford (17) was run-out with an over left after Pete Smith (16), Simon Rickett (10) and Elliot Thompson (10) chipped in. Alex Richardson took 2-10.
Ben Adshead’s 44 for Feckenham proved crucial.
The league runs at Prince Henry’s Cricket Centre, Victoria Avenue, from 8pm on Tuesdays with Harvington facing Stanway Boxmen and Feckenham playing Bredon next week.
