EVESHAM United manager Paul West has called on his team to find their scoring touch after failing to hit the target for three matches.
The Robins have drawn blanks against Hungerford Town and Poole Town in 1-0 defeats, while they also played out a goalless stalemate with Swindon Supermarine.
While West was full of praise for his players’ efforts against three teams gunning for promotion from Evo-Stik Southern Football League Division One South and West, he knows more is needed.
He will hope they can make the most of their opportunities at Didcot Town on Saturday (3pm) and when the Robins host Wimborne Town next Tuesday (7.45pm). West said: “If someone had said to me we would only concede two goals in the three matches, I would have bitten their hand off but it was disappointing we didn’t score.”
The Evesham manager added: “We have to improve in the last third and be more clinical. We have had chances but if you don’t register and fail to make them count that’s a problem.
“We competed in all three games and should have got a bit more from them so we have to learn from it and hopefully push on.”
United’s last goals came in the 3-1 victory at relegation-threatened Winchester City on February 9 when Carl Brown, Marcus Palmer and Will Gayton were on target.
West added: “We are not a million miles away but have to ask questions of opponents by scoring goals.
“The team has been resolute and difficult to play against but we have got to take some of our chances.
“That’s not just the forwards but the whole team.”
Brown (ankle), captain Matt Sysum (back) and fellow centrehalf Chris Jackson (arm) played through the pain barrier against Hungerford last weekend but should be fit to face Didcot.
West has not ruled out trying to bring in extra firepower but admits it is not easy, both through a lack of funds and players being unavailable.
