MANAGER Paul Collicutt is hoping Evesham United’s remarkable run of form will attract more fans to the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium.

The Robins have climbed into the play-off places on the back of an eight-game winning streak in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West.

It has led to supporters coming out in force with the crowd of 381 for the Boxing Day victory over Stratford Town the largest in the league since United moved to the ground in 2012.

Another 324 watched last Saturday’s 5-0 thumping of Bishops Cleeve with some helping players and officials clear the pitch of surface water prior to kick-off.

Sixth-placed Yate Town are the visitors on Saturday (3pm) as Evesham aim to make it 27 points out of 27.

Collicutt said: “It was pleasing on Saturday to see the size of the crowd and it would be great this weekend to see a few more come through the turnstiles.

“The players appreciate it and I would like to think the fans have enjoyed the games.

“There’s a good atmosphere down at the club and that’s come about through winning.

“It’s not just the players with smiles on their faces, it’s the crowd as well.”

The Evesham boss, who also takes his side to Cinderford Town in the league on Tuesday (7.45pm), added: “The lads just seem to be bouncing off each other.

“They are playing well as a team and certain individuals are on top of their game. It’s been good to watch.

“We have scored a few goals but the most pleasing thing is we are keeping clean sheets and are a difficult team to beat.

“It’s brought a togetherness within the team and club. The worst habit you can have is losing but the best is winning, there is no better feeling.”

Collicutt, whose side have conceded just twice during their eight-match winning run, expects to have the majority of his squad to pick from against Yate.

Striker Kevin Slack could return following a leg injury but midfielder Elliot Kennedy is taking some time out for personal reasons.

Meanwhile, the Robins’ postponed league game at Wantage Town from New Year’s Day has been rearranged for Tuesday, January 20 (7.45pm).

The reserves return to action on Saturday with an Evesham Hospital Minor Cup clash at Droitwich Spa (1.30pm).
