LITTLETON gained revenge for their 3-1 December away defeat with a 3-0 home win over local rivals Pershore Town in Midland League Division One.

The hosts went ahead on the stroke of half-time when Dan Holloway headed in a corner at the near post to separate the teams after an even opening period.

Pershore struggled to get their usual passing game flowing on an unpredictable playing surface and missed influential captain Craig Connor in central midfield.

Littleton took control in the second-half and extended their lead on 60 minutes when Pershore’s Matt Mitchell helped the ball into his own net against his former club while trying to clear during a goalmouth scramble.

Nathan Hayward netted the third goal 10 minutes later with another near-post header from a corner and, from that point, the result was never in doubt.

Littleton, who are 13th in the table, host Racing Club Warwick on Wednesday (7.45pm) before visiting Pelsall Villa on Saturday (3pm).

They then head to Southam United in the Les James Challenge Cup semi-finals on Monday (7.45pm) and entertain Pilkington XXX in the league on Wednesday, April 22 (7.45pm).

Tenth-placed Pershore are without a match this weekend and finish their campaign at Alvis Sporting Club on April 25 and Uttoxeter Town on May 2.
