THE Pershore Tennis Centre boys’ 10 and under team have been crowned Herefordshire and Worcestershire Winter League champions.
Ollie Dando and Myles Holland were up against Bromsgrove, Manor Park and HDA Redditch.
They came through all their matches, by beating each team for a clean sweep to the title.
Not to be outdone, Pershore ladies ‘A’ team defeated a strong Woolhope team 6-4.
Sarah McCormick and Polly Arnold won both their matches.
Beth Excell and Imogen Looker lost both their matches over three sets but did enough for the team victory.
The men’s ‘A’ side beat Leamington ‘B’ 4-0, with the father-and-son team of Chris and Mike Langston alongside Julian Ramus and Pete McCreanor.
In South Warwickshire League Division Five, Pershore men’s ‘B’ won 4-0 at Wildmoor Spa ‘A’.
Captain Dave Morris, Tom Adamson, Peter Corbishley and Bong Andales helped them stretch their unbeaten run to four matches.
In the Herefordshire and Worcestershire League, the ‘B’ team drew 2-2 at Halesowen, with three of the four rubbers needing third-set tie-breaks.
Pershore, with Andales, Brian Taylor, John Alexander and Daniel Walker playing, won more sets to grab the winning draw.
