JOHNSON’S Family Karate have started a new class at Evesham Leisure Centre.
Over 45 years of teaching, chief instructor Master Tony Johnson (pictured above) has earned a sixth dan in tang soo do, a fifth in a style of Korean weaponry and a first in taekwondo.
Liverpool-born Johnson has visited China, South Korea and America, winning the World Grand Championships in Florida in 1993 and being inducted into the Combat Magazine hall of fame.
He started the sport when young after being bullied and gathering inspiration from the film Seven Samurai.
Since then, Johnson has inspired many students and starred in a tournament last year when he put on a display of ancient kata.
The class, running on Mondays at the Abbey Road centre at 6pm, is open to any age.
Anyone interested in learning the karate style of kong sudo can call Johnson on 07961 853552 or visit johnsonskarate.co.uk.
