EVESHAM ladies’ captain Joan Hunt and partner Jennie Masser claimed the club’s coronation foursomes.

Twenty-eight members competed on a cold, misty morning, which turned to glorious sunshine.

Hunt and Masser secured 32 points and were followed by Dee Machin and Val Lemon (31).

Evesham seniors opened their season with a 5-1 friendly win over The Worcestershire from Malvern Wells.

Captain Mike Brumage and Mike Abraham won 3&2, Neil Croft and Steve Deakin one-up, Malcolm Hiscock and Ian Facer 2&1, Michael Hocking and Dave Hartland 3&2 and Jerry Cain and Martin Williams 3&2.

Meanwhile, the men’s Medal Division One and Two were played at Broadway with a packed field of 95 competing.

After a chilly start, the day soon warmed up with fine scoring overall.

The overall competition winner with 67 nett was Steven Saunders, playing five under course scratch on the day.

Individual victors were Division One’s Ollie Storrer with 69, from Mike Seys (70) and Mike Humpston (71).

In Division Two, Richard Broadbridge won with 70, followed by Justin Loram (72) and Tony Knight (73).

Kieran Sutton achieved best gross with 74.

Club captain Warren McDivitt and partner Brian Lawrence won their Daily Mail Foursomes second round at Tadmarton Heath in windy conditions, beating Les Robinson and Dave Padbury 2&1.
