SUZANNE Edwardes followed in the footsteps of her mother to complete her first London Marathon.

The 25-year-old, raising money for the Prince’s Trust, crossed the finishing line in three hours 21 minutes one second.

Her mother Dr Julie Edwardes, a semi-retired GP in Evesham, ran the marathon at the age of 44 in 2001 to raise funds for St Richards Hospice in 4.07.17.

Suzanne, who now lives in London, trained by running the eight miles home from work twice a week.

She also took part in weekly spinning classes to build up stamina.

Suzanne’s first competitive race was the Evesham 10k in 2010, which she finished in 45.55.

She returned an improved time of 43.34 in her second Evesham 10k in 2013.

Her third race was last year’s Bristol half-marathon in 1.34.54.

Julie said: “We very much enjoyed supporting Suzanne and going up with family and friends to watch her in the London Marathon.

“In my work, I have always promoted exercise and fitness and hope over the years I have inspired some of my patients.”
