EVESHAM Vale juniors again made their mark in the West Midlands Triathlon Junior Series with three podium places at the Birmingham Running, Athletics and Triathlon Club (BRAT) Aquathlon.

Casarena Ferreira, in the youth category for 15 to 16-year-olds, finished her 400-metre swim just ahead of Birmingham’s Abigail Saker.

She came out of transition first and led the way in the 3,000m run but Saker took over on the last lap, leaving the Evesham girl second ahead of Elizabeth Allen.

However, Ferreira still leads the regional series.

Satara Ferreira, in the Tristar Two race for 11 to 12-year-olds, came out of the 200m swim in seventh place.

With a fast transition into her 1,800m run, she overtook the rest of the competitors for first spot in front of Stafford’s Emmeline Grace and remained second in the West Midlands rankings.

Grace Nolan, in the Tristar One race for nine to 10-year-olds, came out of the 150m swim and into transition neck-and-neck for first place.

Amy Harland, of Wrekin College Tri Club, went ahead on the 1,200m run, leaving Nolan to secure a well-deserved second position over Isabella Price.

The result kept the Evesham girl second in the regional rankings with two races to go.
