THE 13th to 16th places in the Cotswold Floorball League’s Mixed ‘A’ competition have been settled.

Stow had travel problems, so had to concede their two fixtures. Blockley ‘A’ were held to 3-1 by Swell for much of the game but eventually ran out 8-1 winners. Kieron Payne netted four times, Dominic Daniells twice, Victoria Holland and Theo Ebbutt once each.

Oscar Dodridge scored from a narrow angle for Swell’s consolation.

St James warmed up with a 2-0 friendly win over Swell, Alfie Willson and Jacob Greenslade scoring.

Saints then found Blockley to be in continuing good form. Payne and Holland put their team 2-0 up, but Willson pulled one back.

Payne and Holland scored again to make it 4-1 and put Blockley into 13th place. The postponed girls’ quarter-final was also completed, Mickleton beat a Swell side 6-3.

Georgia Clark-Groves netted all six for Mickleton, who now go on to face Ilmington in the semi final on Tuesday. Harriet Lees with two goals and Lizzie Lillywhite kept the pressure up from Swell, but Ella Davis would not let anything else get past her.

Ilmington had what proved to be an easy 5-1 victory over Willersey in the quarter-final.

In the first 20 seconds of the match Willersey conceded a free- hit close to goal.

The defensive wall was slow to form and Daisy Fossett struck home.

Laura Fisher scored on the power play a few minutes later, tucking home a perfect pass from her wing man.

Captain Fossett, normally a defender, nullified the goal-scoring threat of Jodie Russell who was restricted to just one score to make it 2-1.

Pips Broomfield scored twice within a minute soon after this and the match was almost over.

Fossett came forward once more to strike home a second free-hit to complete the 5-1 win.

In the play-offs for fifth to eighth places in the girls’ competition Willersey’s Russell was allowed much more freedom, netting all eight goals.

Lillywhite and Lees scored once each.

This leaves Swell likely to take sixth place with no more matches to play.

Willersey have the chance to jump above them when they meet Dormer House and Temple Guiting next week.
