FORMER Prince Henry’s High School pupil Elliott Stooke is in the England under 20s’ 28-man squad for the IRB Junior World Championship season in France.

Their tournament kicks off against the French hosts on June 5. Nineteen-year-old lock Stooke plays for Gloucester and came through the junior ranks at Evesham, Bredon and Stow.

Stow centre Ollie Thorley, also at Gloucester, made his international debut playing a year up for England under 17s in France as an early replacement.

  • PERSHORE women claimed another second place in round six of the Midlands Ladies’ Touch League in Ross-on-Wye.

They only conceded two tries throughout while beating close rivals Droitwich Spa 1-0 and Redditch 5-0.

Laura Lines is now the main coach for the team who retained second in the overall standings ahead of their home tournament on Sunday, May 19, in Wyre Piddle at 2pm.

  • THE Midlands Three West (South) derby match between Evesham and Pershore will not be rearranged following a ruling from the Midlands League organising Committee.

The game was postponed in March due to the wintry weather but will not be replayed as it does not have a bearing on promotion or relegation.
