PERSHORE Rugby Club enjoyed a happy Hallowe’en with a 24-3 win under rivals Upton’s floodlights.

The visitors’ pack dominated the Midlands Three West (South) fixture and the power of their eight in the set-pieces led to victory.

Third-placed Pershore scored two tries in either half, going ahead with a converted effort from a five-metre scrum after five minutes.

Upton kicked a penalty but Pershore burrowed over from a maul to make it 12-0 at half-time.

They forced a penalty try in the second period from a five-metre scrum and added the conversion.

Pershore secured a bonus point after diving over in the corner from a line-out 10 metres out.

Meanwhile, second-placed Evesham maintained their Midlands Four West (South) momentum with a 31-0 win at lowly Coventrians.

Pershore visit Willenhall in the RFU Midlands Senior Vase second round on Saturday and Evesham go to Bishops Castle and Onny Valley in the Junior Vase.
