EVESHAM under 16s hit back to beat Silhillians 20-19 with James Thompson keeping his cool to seal the win.

A strong, blustery wind helped decide a close game.

Within four minutes, the visitors scored a try only for Tom Mullen to level soon after.

Evesham’s forwards dominated the set pieces but Silhillians had the upper hand around the ruck and scored two more tries by half-time due to loose tackling.

Lewis Woodford pulled one try back before, playing with the wind in the second half, the hosts stopped leaking tries aided by accurate kicking from Thompson.

Captain and player-of-the-match Jack Richardson scored their third try under the posts with Thompson converting.

With one minute left, Evesham drove up to the line and won a penalty, which Thompson kicked to win the game.

Meanwhile, Evesham under 14s cruised to a 69-19 victory in an 11-try bonanza, beating Pulborough from West Sussex.

After returning from a successful tour to Bournemouth, winger George McNally opened the scoring with a try in the corner.

McNally burst through to score near the posts and James Icke converted before the visitors dived over to make it 12-5.

Owain Hann added the extras to a try from winger Josh Sellick, who then scored his second in the corner.

Evesham led 31-5 by half-time after fly half Hann darted through and Icke converted.

Pulborough struck back with two converted tries only for McNally to complete his hat-trick, extending the scoreline to 36-19.

AJ Corbett powered through and Icke kicked the conversion after centre Jack O’Halloran sidestepped over.

Player-of-the-match Hann scored again, with Icke again converting, and then kicked the extras for two more tries from McNally.
