Evesham and Pershore residents joined in the celebrations as a new King and Queen were crowned.

The Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla saw communities across the country come together to mark the occasion.

And it was no different here in Worcestershire, with a wide range of festivities taking place.

Despite the weather doing its best to spoil the occasion, crowds turned up in Evesham's Market Square to watch the coronation.

They were joined there by bagpipers, civic leaders and local scouting groups who made up the parade which had set off from St Lawrence's Church shortly before the ceremony.

The town was represented at Westminster Abbey by Mid Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston.

He said: "What an incredible mix of tradition and modernity, beauty and splendour.

"Yet again we have shown that no other country on earth can rival us for our pageantry.

"But more important than the visual splendour was the substance; we have come together as a nation to celebrate the coronation of our new monarch, King Charles III, who so clearly takes his duties immensely seriously and in whom we can all be confident will serve us with dignity and grace - as his late mother did."

"We had a shop full of adults and children with big smiles!

"Percy got visited by babies, children, adults, teddies and even Dogs!

"M&S was very busy all weekend with lots of people buying Coronation Party supplies!

"We had great fun and it was lovely to see so many happy children!"

Over in Pershore, Abbey Park played host to the Big Lunch on Sunday, May 9.

The event was organised by the Coronation Committee of Pershore Town Council, who described it as a "great success".

"It was brilliant to see the community come together with a wonderful atmosphere to celebrate such a historic occasion," added town clerk Charlie Talbot.

"Thank you to all who donated bunting to display across the town – I am sure you can agree Pershore looked spectacular!"
